Christian and Kilted

Why wear a kilt? Here's a better question, "Why not wear a kilt?" Kilts are:

  • Modest
  • Comfortable
  • Distinctly Masculine in a Unisex World
  • Long Lasting

I'm a Conservative, Pro-Life, Christian who wears the kilt out of a sense of heritage and modesty. This site is about the clothes I wear.

To wear a Kilt (or other unbifurcated garment) made for a man is not cross-dressing. Kilts are men's garments made for men and are recognized as such. I used to (and occassionally) still do worry about what people think. The truth is that most people don't care, unless they're curious about Highland heritage.

Look at this way. If men who wear Kilts (or sarongs) are wearing skirts, then was Jesus wearing a dress? That's only correct if you define skirt as "any unbifurcated garment worn around the waist" and dress as "any unbifurcated garment worn from head to toe". Men in Fuji, Scotland, Indonesia, Samoa, Malaysia, Hawaii, and Tahitia are not wearing skirts. They're wearing sulus, kilts, sarongs, lava lavas, kains, kikepas, and pareos. They're wearing garments that are intended for men. Even those that are worn by both sexes are wrapped differently when worn by men.

If you feel like you should/want to wear a kilt or another unbifurcated garment made for men, do it. Pray for wisdom in how to best introduce the garment into your life. Dress in a manner that is distinctly, and clearly masculine, and most importantly: serve God in these troubled times.
